Golf Betting Preview and Profitable Week 1 NFL Trends

May 21, 2020 Greg Turner

We can’t wait to start winning big when the major sports return!

In the meantime, we have been enjoying the action and making money in horse racing. We had another winning Saturday last week, hitting an exacta at Churchill Downs that left us with a net profit of $550 for the day.

We are now +$800 betting the ponies the last two weeks at just $20 across the board!

It’s been a blast as the races are televised on Fox Sports 1 or NBCS every Saturday and the betting public agrees as track handles are double or triple what they were at this time last year even though there is no in-person betting at the tracks!

This Saturday we will have another 3 best bets in horse racing, plus an exacta for just $50 or get the last two Saturdays in May for only $77. Call Harry at 1-877-332-0077 to get on board.

The highly anticipated golf match between Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning versus Phil  Mickelson and Tom Brady will be played on Sunday at Medalist Golf Club in Florida. Dubbed “The Match: Champions for Charity,” the format is an 18-hole match with nine holes of best ball and nine holes of modified alternate shot.

Tiger and Peyton are a -195 favorite and we think the big price is justified.

First off, Manning is listed as a 6.4 handicap and Brady is currently playing at an 8.1. Brady’s last official round posted on GHIN was back in April at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, the prestigious course right around the corner from TB12’s home in Boston that has hosted U.S. Opens and Ryder Cup. Brady shot an 86 that day, which is 14 over par, and our insiders tell us that he has been much more focused on football and getting his soon-to-be 42-year-old body in shape for the NFL, rather than playing golf. So not only is Manning a slightly better player on paper, he’s been playing more and is in much better “golf shape.”

As for the pros, Tiger is still pissed about losing to Phil in their battle at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas on Thanksgiving Weekend of 2018. Tiger is a member at Medalist (the back tees are named the “Tiger Tees,”) so he’s logged the most rounds there of the four participants, by far, and you can bet he’s been drilling Manning with insider tips about the course. Tiger is more comfortable playing Florida courses and those Bermuda Grass greens (he has more PGA wins in the Sunshine State than another state) than West Coast Phil.

With that said, we have three bets for Sunday. Tiger and Peyton to win the match at -195. We’ll also bet that they will be leading after the nine-hole best ball format at -160, where Peyton and Brady will be given three handicap strokes, a rule I’m sure Manning is drooling over. Finally, we’ll fire at one prop bet and take the Yes at +175 on “Will Either Team Make an Eagle.” The best chances for eagles will come at No. 11 and No. 14, which are both short par-4s that Tiger could hit the green from off the tee.

Either way, this match should be much more entertaining to watch than last week’s match since these four guys can trash talk and have fun on the course better than anyone.

Week 1 and 2 pointspreads for the NFL are widely available right now, but before you place a bet on these games, keep in mind there’s a good chance that there will be no fans in the stands, so our power rankings won’t be favoring the home teams as much as usual.

Also, here are just three of the hundreds of key early NFL season stats and trends we plucked from our database that you’ll want to remember:

  • Baltimore has outscored its Week 1 opponents, 139-20, the last four seasons and over the last 12 years the team is 9-3 both straight up and against the spread in Week 1. The Ravens are an 8.5 favorite at home versus Baker Mayfield the Browns in Week 1 this year.
  • The Denver Broncos are 50-11 straight up at home in September in their last 61. In Week 1, they are 17-3 straight-up and 14-5-1 against the spread. Denver hosts Tennessee in a Week 1 Monday Night Football game this year and is listed as a 3-point chalk
  • If you bet against New Orleans in Weeks 1 and 2 the last six seasons you would have won 91% of your bets! That’s right, Sean Payton and the Saints are just 1-11 ATS and 2-10 straight up in Weeks 1 and 2 over the last six seasons. This year, the Saints open up at home against Brady and the Bucs as a 4.5 favorite and in Week 2 they’ll make their first trek to Las Vegas and play the Raiders on Monday Night as a 4-point favorite.

Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowl safety Earl Thomas has had an interesting time in quarantine.

Earl’s wife had been complaining about his constant drinking so he called his brother to pick him up, called a few prostitutes, and went to a nearby house he rented as a party house. A couple of hours later, his wife Nina checked Earl’s Snapchat account and found a video of Earl cavorting with a woman. She tracked the location, gathered up a few female friends and grabbed Earl’s gun, just like your wife would have done, right?!?

According to the police report, she found Earl and his brother naked in bed with several women. Nina put the gun to Earl’s head and threatened to kill him and the other women. The cat-quick, seven-time Pro Bowler was able to wrestle the gun away from his wife and when police arrived, they found Earl running buck naked down the street being chased by Nina, who had now armed herself with a knife.

We hope your time spent physically distancing has been a little less dramatic! Stay safe!
